Hi There!
Daryelle Chery is a Haitian American screenwriter and actress, based in New York. Her specialty is screenplays that are focused on showing minority group experiences through a historical or supernatural lens. “I'll Be Waiting ", her first produced short play, was chosen for the Spring/ Summer season of 2024 by the New York Theater Festival. Showcased at the Hudson Guild Theatre the play tackles the difficulties of growing up as a black teenage girl in light of glaring racial issues. The skills she learned while receiving a Bachelor’s in Creative Writing and English Literature at Southern New Hampshire University have helped her cultivate stories that move others.
“I'll Be Waiting " was incredibly well received in New York with each night of its three-show run being sold out. The time spent at SNHU earning her Bachelor's degree has provided her with technical literary knowledge. Her personal experiences have helped her craft a diverse nuanced perspective to her work.

I had the privilege of writing, producing, and starring in the short. I’ll Be Waiting is about…
A black teenage girl who must come to terms
with the glaring racial discrimination
surrounding her after the disappearance
of her single mother.
The show sold out all three of its performances!
Excerpt of “I’ll be Waiting”:
Hey Mom, the school therapist says I should write to you. It’s supposed to be healing. It’s dumb. I know you're out there trying to get back home to me. But Ma is having a hard time. Way worse though than me. Some days I just can’t get her to stop crying. I’m really scared, mom. She is becoming so forgetful. The cops say they are going to take her to a nursing home soon. What the hell do they know anyway? They think you're dead. Whatever happens next Mom I just want to say thank you. Thanks for being my mom, dad, and best friend all in one person. I’ll never be able to love you back the way you love me. But just know I'll always be waiting.
